WHAT'S GOING ON?

Currently, water pollution is a serious problem within society; Many factors influence this and the main consequence is water scarcity which can worsen due to climate change, especially in arid and semi-arid areas, which already present water stress. Thus, the protection of global freshwater resources requires that the impact of human origin on the environment and climate be addressed in an integrated manner.

According to official data, only 0.007% of the water on Earth is drinkable, and that amount is progressively reduced due to pollution. Furthermore, water consumption is growing exponentially and it is expected that global demand will increase by 55% by 2050 compared to the year 2000.

ACTIONS TO MAKE A CHANGE

1. Use small grates in sinks, showers and dishwashers to prevent dirt such as food leftovers, hair because they pollute the wáter
2. Use hydraulic energy for construction machines instead of gasoline because they reduce greenhouse gases and climate change
3. Recycle and reuse water used in the operation of hydraulic power plants
